Comments Box area not working

Post by Howlers »

Hi:

I feel like an idiot because I didn't notice this until today, but . . . I have a blog that's been up and running for about 4 months. I was wondering today why I don't have any comments to any of my posts and I decided to test it. Here is the link to it:

http://www.howlersandyowlers.com/blog/i ... Water.html

When I try to post a comment, I get the following error:

You did not enter the correct string displayed in the spam-prevention image box. Please look at the image and enter the values displayed there.
Your comment could not be added because comments for this entry have either been disabled, you entered invalid data, or your comment was caught by anti-spam measures.

So, apparently, this isn't working. Also, sometimes I get two separate verification boxes.
Does anybody know what is wrong with this or can someone tell me where in the code I need to look
to try to figure out what's wrong with it?

Thanks

She

What is not clearly stated in your description: You did enter the right letters in the captcha - I think so, because it really is not working. Remains the issue when you disable the captchas (Had this in my local testblog with firefox)?

Hi!

Usually mismatching captchas can often be attributed to malfunctioning PHP sessions due to server-setup.

To try if that is the case, please try to use a fresh browser that you normally do not use and log into the serendipity backend, WITHOUT checking the option to remember the login. Then try to post or edit a blog article, and see if that works, or if you get logged out of Serendipity.

Also, which event plugins are you using exactly?

The problem is on the front end of the program, not in the admin. area. That part is fine.
The problem is that users are not able to add comments to my posts. Also, some posts have two captcha boxes, like this one:

If you go to the above page and try to post a comment, you will be able to see the error.

Thanks very much for your help!

Do you have the Spam Protector event plugin installed twice?

No, I don't think so. It's odd because it only shows up twice on some pages, but not on others. I really didn't add any plug-ins at all - I basically just installed it and tweaked the css to match the rest of the website.

Hi!

Yes I know that the problem is in the frontend. But the test I described you should perform is important for the frontend.

Maybe you can also post a screenshot of your event plugin listing.

Can you describe exactly how you fixed it, so that others might possibly benefit in the future?
