Statistics / visits plugin

Post by lachistera »

Hello:
I would like that, from the Administration, I could see how many people has visited each post, how many posts have been writen from a date, if there are votings...
I don't know if Karma plugin does it, as I see that it is a sidebar plugin (so everybody would see it.
I really don't mind that everyone can see the statistics and visits, but I would like to play a little more, to make reports for the direction, and that.

Also, Karma gives me this error: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in C:\Archivos de programa\serendipity\plugins\serendipity_plugin_karmaranking\serendipity_plugin_karmaranking.php on line 77

Also I see that there are a lot of developings of Karma, but in Serendipity page, the last version is from 2006. Is there a later version?

So: if I can do what i want with Karma,
what is happening with that error,
is there a later version than the Serendipity page?

Thank you,

Daniel

Hi!

There is a statistics event plugin that you can install. It does offer a bit of you want, but not everything out of it. It could surely be enhanced, if some volunteers could offer help with it :)
Also, Karma gives me this error: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in C:\Archivos de programa\serendipity\plugins\serendipity_plugin_karmaranking\serendipity_plugin_karmaranking.php on line 77
Where/when do you get this? On your blog? Which version of s9y and the plugin are you using?

Thank you, Garvin:
I am terribly sorry that I can not help with developing: I am just a quite simple user...

So you recommend me to use the Statistics plugin that comes with the programm? But I see that this plugin goes to the sidebar, and I would like to see it in the administration.
Or maybe you refer to other plugin?

Maybe I don't understand very well what Karma offers. I thought that this plugin could help me to see how many visitors have had a concrete post, and also voting for them...

The error is:
I install the plugin.
I go to the blog: the blog shows this error, but in the place where the plug in should be. The rest of the blog is ok.
At the bottom of the page says: Based on Serendipity 1.4 and PHP 5.2.0
I have it installed in my computer, for testing.

Thank you,

Daniel

Hi!

Okay, I've just looked at the plugin. Maybe some more introduction.

"Karma" is a method that defines blog entries, and how much your visitors like them. To set "karma", you first need to install the serendipity event plugin "Karma rating". This will create the necessary database tables, and will offer links inside your blog entries for visitors to rate them. Those ratings will be saved in the table.

Now the karmaranking plugin only shows a list of entries that your visitors found interesting. IF you did not install the karma plugin, you have no dataset for this, so the plugin reports this error (in an ugly way, I agree). Once you install the karma event plugin and rate a blog entry, that error should go away.

Now as for your statistics: For that you need to install the EVENT plugin called "Statistics". This will embed itself inside the admin area!

I am sorry, but I can not find any of those plugins:
at EVENT Statistics, there are: Google Analytics, PHPOpenTracker, Polls, and Show read/unread messages...

at SIDEBAR Statistics, I find: Average rating, Karma ranking, Polls, Popular entries, and Top refers...

I can not find neither Karma Rating nor Statistics.

Thanks,

I am sorry for my last question.
Yes, I found that plugins. I was looking for them at Spartacus, when they are in Serendipity itself.

Sorry,

One more question:
if I install just "Statistics", I can not see the "Most visited posts". It appears at the end of "Statistics", but only if I install "Karma".

When I install "Karma", at the end of "Statistics" appear: "Most visited posts", "Less visited posts", "Higher Karma Posts"... etc.

Is it alright?

Thank you,

Hi!

Yes, some plugins enhance the output of the statistics plugin, like the karma plugin. Actually the karma plugin puts its output inside the statistical output.

Hello, again:
I would like to know how many posts were visited from one date. For exemple: how many visits the blog had in april.
Which were the most visited posts in that month?

Is it possible?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi!

That's not possible with the plugin. If you want simple access statistics, using Google Analytics is the easiest way and has the most functionality.

Best regards,

If you don't want Mr. big brother watching you, piwik is a free alternative to install on your own server, but it is still beta.
