editor toolbar

Post by mommica »

Forgive me if I'm missing something very small here, but I know nothing:

There used to be a toolbar in my new entry/edit entry that allowed me to change the font, size, etc. of my blog post text. I also used it to upload images, add hyperlinks, etc. That toolbar has suddenly disappeared. I went in and changed the timezone in my settings recently, and that's when I noticed the toolbar was missing. I don't think I changed any other settings, but maybe WYSIWIG was disabled or the settings are set for HTML now??? I don't know, but I tried to change some of the settings to fix the problem, and none of my changes would save. Please help...

Sounds like it. You should be able to change it using:

Personal Settings -> Use WYSIWYG editor -> [x] Yes [ ] No

That's what I thought and I did try to change that, but I would check "yes", hit save, and it moved the checkmark back to "no." Why would that be?

Now WYSIWIG is checked 'yes', but still have the same problem - no editor toolbar. Anything else it could be?

Hi!

Do you use firefox? Check your javascript error console if you see any errors appearing there?

Did you recently maybe upgrade your blog? There sounds to be something whacky.

No, not using Firefox. I use Internet Explorer. The only change I made to my blog recently was correcting the timezone. Maybe when you're on Alaska time, you don't need an editor toolbar? ;)

I'm not all that savvy when it comes to this, so any other help you can provide would be appreciated.

Also, when I got back to some of my previous blog posts through 'edit entries', they are showing up in HTML. That never happened before. In my configuration settings, it says JavaScript is enabled.

Hi!

Could you try to use the Firefox browser temporarily? This can give a lot more clue to tell us if a javascript error is going on?!

OK, installed Firefox. I checked the error console but I'm not sure how to read it. There were some warnings from my website... One error from a google site... What next?

Hi!

You tell us those error messages and warnings? :-)

(You can see them through Tools > Error Console) and there select "Errors" in the toolbar)

This is the only error message that is showing up now on Firefox. It is repeated over and over again.

Error: crm.cn[0].layer is undefined

Hi!

Hm, okay. This error message does not come from serendipity but from another URL, so it's not related.

I'm a bit unsure what is happening for you. Can you make a screenshot of how your entry interface looks like? If you could give me temporary author access to your blog, I could have a look at the page, that's the only thing I could offer right now...if you want that, please send me a PM.
