I think what you're looking for is a site entry page, where users get an index of various things they can do on your site (for example, an introduction with links to a blog, a gallery, and a forum).

The easiest thing to do for that is to actually create an HTML page with the text and links you want, with Serendipity installed in a subdirectory.

If you've already got your whole site pointing to Serendipity, you can also use the Static Pages plugin to create a "front page" with the appropriate links and set it to be the Serendipity start page.

There are other options, too; you could modify the index.tpl (which requires a bit of HTML and Smarty knowledge) or create a "sticky" post (which requires the Extended Properties of Entries plugin).

If I've misinterpreted your question, or you need anything else, just let us know.

There's no plugin for that, but many templates (such as Bulletproof) do support a menu bar.

Since you seem to be using Bulletproof, just go to "Manage Themes" in your admin page and set up the menu items!

Bulletproof contains navigation bar options, but they are not "drop down". It can be configured to display above the banner, below the banner, or in a sidebar. See the option labeled: "Position of the navbar". "Manage Styles" should be the first link listed under the group of links titled "Appearance".

side note for this thread (sorry for the hijack)

Any chance of more navbar buttons in that style sheet? (currently 0 - 4)

Yes Trevor - the number of navlinks is a configuration item.
