Blog in Emergency Comment Blockage Mode?

The comments option on my blog has been giving the error of this...

Your comment could not be added, because comments for this entry have been disabled.

This has been happening for the last three months. I have my blog hosted through Go Daddy and I was told that the error is with Serendipity and not through them. The admin panel under comment options indicates that the comments are enabled and everything on the admin panel is in order for comments to be left. I have talked to Go Daddy for the last few months about the issue, so now I am attempting this approach. I have had my blog with Go Daddy set up with Serendipity for the last four years and this is the first time I have ever had an issue with comments.

I had to update the MySQL database a few months back and ever since then I have had issues with comments. I talked with Go Daddy about that and they still tell me that everything is in order on their end. ???

Check the spam protector plugin - the very first option is "Emergency comment shutdown". Is that set to yes?

OH MY GOSH! I have racked my brain trying to pinpoint this issue and been on the phone with every rep with Go Daddy and nothing for the last four months. I never thought to check that option. Thank you so much Don. I feel like such a moron for never checking that before.

Happy to hear it helped.... and most of us have been in the position of missing what later seems to have been so obvious!

And don't worry about giving godaddy some grief - they usually deserve it!! And I have a few sites with them as well!!
