Hi,
I've just updated from 1.4-alpha1 to 1.4beta1.
After I've uploaded the new version I was informed that my root directory was write protected. I had to ask my provider to change the rights to 777 for the time of the update.
It looks like no file in root was changed. So is it really necessary for an update?
Update - permission 777 for root really necessary?

Hi!
The serendipity_config_local.inc.php file needs write privileges. When this file has them, usually the installer should not complain...

Garvin
