moving installation

Post by mwpclark »

I would like to move the serendipity installation from one domain to another on the same linux server. I have tried moving the files but I am unable to get the admin config to work properly to change the paths.

Is there an easy way to do this or am I better off with a new installation?

Powered by Serendipity 1.3.1 and PHP 5.2.5

Thanks
Mike

Hi!

Do you have admin access? If so, you could just edit the VirtualHost configuration of the server to put the DocumentRoot of the new target domain simply into the currently existing path.

Did you read the FAQ on www.s9y.org about moving? The bottom line is to copy all files, adapt the serendipity_config_local.inc.php and .htaccess files and then you should be able to re-logon to the admin panel. How does accessing the admin panel not work for you, what happens?

reinstall easier

Thanks Garvin

The admin screens were not displaying any pages. I had changed the location and also the directory name from serendipity to another name. It was quite easy to install a new copy that had not yet been configured -- easier than looking for path statements in other files. I edited .htaccess but looking at it now, I may have missed some entries. Anyway it's working in the new location.

There seems to be a good user support for this product, that's always a plus, thanks again.
