The new Serendipity version 1.6.1 that I downloaded does not come with the
serendipity_event_xmlrpc bundled in the plugins folder.
When I first copied the serendipity_xmlrpc.php file into the root of my blog folder, Windows LiveWriter simply would not make a successful connection. When I typed the url directly, with the serendipity_xmlrpc.php, I got a text message in my browser saying that it was no longer bundled with serendipity, and that it wasn't used very much before.
Luckily, I have two or three previous serendipity blogs, as I have been using serendipity for quite a few years. So, I copied the
serendipity_event_xmlrpc folder from the plugins folder of another blog, and copied it into the plugins folder in my new v. 1.6.1 Serendipity.
Now, in the Admin console, the option to add the event plugin appears, and I can install it the proper way.
Alas, no matter which custom blog option I use in LiveWriter, mindful that I'm supposed to enter the
http://www.mydomain.com/serendipity/ser ... xmlrpc.php as the API URL, LiveWriter continues to give me the :
"Can't connect to the blog service
Invalid Server Response - The response to the blogger.getUsersBlogs method received from the blog server was invalid:
Invalid response document returned from XmlRpc server
Please try fixing the problem and then try again.
B.T.W., I have Word 2010. In Word, like in LiveWriter, you can post to a blog. My Word connects to my other Serendipity blog sites no problem. Right now I am downloading an older version of Serendipity, and I will try that. This is a real pain, as any blog writing software is better than the WYSIWYG editor that comes stock with Serendipity. This lack of Word and LiveWriter support is regressive, not progressive.
