Can't login into the backend after installation

Post by captaincut »

Hi,
I have a problem, perhaps anyone has a solution ;-)
I already installed s9y on several sites (successfully) but now i have another one and there, i can install s9y but afterwards i can't login to the backend. Every time I got the message : Wrong user oder password - so I've tried it 8 times, and I am sure that i used the correct username and pw. Has anyone an idea why I can't login? Perhaps it has s.th to do with the server-settings?

Hi!

Did you maybe use umlauts or special characters when installing that blog?

Special characters might not work properly when the blog is installed with UTF-8 charset. You should at least for initial installation refrain from using umlauts, spaces or other problematic chars...

Hi Garvin,
thx 4 the quick reply - i've tried it with different usernames and pw, I also checked that i don't write in capital letters or s.th else ... i have no idea what could be the problem. The only thing which is different to my other s9y-pages is, that this page is on a webserver from switzerland ;-), I think I'll install it again and paste the url, perhaps I overlock s.th.

Hi!

When you reinstalled, did you clear the s9y Database tables before? If not, s9y will report in its installation that tables still exist and it will not overwrite them.

To reinstall, you need to delete all the database tables created by s9y,, as well as the serendipity_config_local.inc.php file.

Regards,
Garvin
