Authors profile plugin - trying to use

I'm trying to use the Author profile plugin but am getting

Fatal error: Smarty error: [in smartymarkupplugin:-1667341176 line 21]: syntax error: unrecognized tag:
?>

THEN the comment form followed by

/home/htdocs/hospodaripomahajihospodarum.com/www/bundled-libs/Smarty/libs/Smarty.class.php on line 1092

Hi!

This error does not come from the author profile plugin, but from the "Text Formatting: Smarty Markup" plugin. IF you use that, your entries must contain valid Smarty markup, which in your case doesn't seem to be.

Either remove the smartymarkup plugin, or make sure your entries contain valid smarty.

I removed the plugin for smarty and it works. I must resist the urge to keep installing plugins I don't yet udnerstand what they do... just starting now to understand what smarty is.
