User picture on Post

I am a new s9y user and so far I really like it, but I have a couple of questions. First, I tried the User Profiles plugin, and it said I needed to add user images to the img subdirectory in the template folder for the template I'm using. I went to do that, and it told me that permission was denied. In fact, permission is denied to editing (or changing permissions on!) any folder within the template directory. Have I done something wrong?

Second, what I'm trying to achieve is to attach a picture of the author to each post on my blog when it is posted. Is this the plugin I need to accomplish this? Or is there one that will?

Hi!

The permission denied can happen when you use Spartacus to download plugins/themes, and have not supplied a proper username/permission mask in the configuration of the plugin. You can change that for downloading future templates, but it can very well be that your provider blocks changing permissions. Also, changing it will not change permissions of already downloaded themes/plugins.

So you must now either ask your provider to fix permissions for you, or you can try the "fixperm.php" script mentioned in the FAQ on www.s9y.org -- it requires you to enter the path to the directory and files you want to change, so this can become a bit of a hassle.

Exactly, the userprofiles plugin can do that!
