I got no styles...

I just finished an upgrade from 7 to 8... sort of...
Wasn't sure if I did this right as I'm on WinXP w/ Apache2 for Win.

Renamed old directory to serendipity.7
copied files to new directory named serendipity.
Ran install... got the query failed error.
changed the version in the .inc.php file back to "0.7"
checked the install page, clicked ok, everything seemed ok.
Now my site has no styles what-so-ever...
Any ideas? Sorry for the wierd install, wasn't really sure how it would work in windows.

We have a documentation on our wiki telling you how to upgrade. You did it wrong, actually. You may never rename the directory and reinstall, that is a bad way.

You should copy the new files over your old files in every case, then the automatic upgrade will tell you what to do.

You should now restore your backup (files+DB!), and just extract the 0.8 files over the serendipity/ directory. Make sure templates_c is writable and the file serendipity_config_local.inc.php exists and is writable. Then open your blog URL, and the upgrader should kick in.
