netmirror/spartacus workaround

Post by francistill »

For some reason today I can't connect to netmirror. Normally this would not be a problem because I would be able to add themes by dropping packages into the repository and they'd show up on my 'manage styles' menu. But they're not showing up on that menu, even with Spartacus disabled and/or removed. Any ideas? Thanks!

PS - the theme I want to install, Plain Vanilla, isn't available on the other repositories, which I can reach.

Hi!

Yes, netmirror seems to be having an outage. Which theme did you upload? maybe it is not a proper theme.

With spartacus disabled, all locally available themes in the proper s9y format must show up.

Thanks, Gavin. I went away and had a drink and thought about it and realised that I had so heavily modified the css and a couple of the tpl pages (plain-vanilla) that the system might not be able to identify the template. So I uploaded to the server a virginal copy of plain-vanilla with Spartacus removed from my events plugins and it showed up on the Manage Styles menu. I then uploaded my modified version of the template to replace the original and it displayed properly. Which leaves me with a question. What does Serendipity use in a template set to identify it for the purposes of displaying it on the menu?

Hi!

The only thing that s9y requires is a readble directory (permission-wise) and an existing "info.txt" file!

brilliant. I'd deleted the info.txt file - which was why the system recognised the virginal template version.
