Installed but can't login

Post by Indyviews »

My installation was a success and filling out the final names and passwords I get the following:

Could not connect to database; check your settings.
The mySQL error was: Access denied for user 'my user name is here'@'kappa.routhost.com' (using password: YES)

I finally got a new database password and that didn't work. I have tried about every combination I can including the password for the admin also. I have also added the kappa.routhost.com.

At one point I let serendipity change my admin password and that didn't work either.

Any suggestions?

Hi!

So you mean you did completeinstallation, or the installation doesnot succeed? This is vital for the tipps I need to give you, because they differ.

For installation if it fails, you must beusing either a wrong hostname or bad username/password.

For an installed s9y version you must edit the serendipity_config_local.inc.php file and insertthe new, proper database passwords and user credentials. Make sure you can save the file. If not, use a FTP client to chmod the file that it works, or if that fails too, check the fixperm.php file in the s9y.org FAQ.
