Strip article header and footer?

Post by rj »

In my dreams... :)
A plug in that initiates a new category called ADMIN which when selected in EDIT removes the title, date and meta footer (Or just now show them). A blank slate article. Good for ads, graphics, tables and special titles. Or better yet, check boxes to eliminate whichever.

In a year of this now I have realized that MOST people do not just dislike blogs THEY DESPISE BLOGS! :) You could have what looks like a website with all the auto features of a blog.

Hi!

You can use the serendipity_event_categorytemplates plugin to assign distinct templates to each category. There of course you can use your custom smarty template which has no title, date and meta stuff.

I completely disagree on this. People love blogs for their interaction, their chronological posting order, the way to discover more features in a blog page, the way to reference other articles, stay connected to a community. This is what has made blogs popular.

CMS systems with "just an article" have existed for ages and are getting less popular, look at how many new sites are being created that look like blogs (with sidebars, meta info etc.) or blog-portals. Most CMSes are even replaced with WordPress, Serendipity and the likes.

Of course there still is a need for CMS for complete info-heavy pages, but also there "just an article" doesn't work for most people. They need site interaction, user interaction.

Thanks, good info, will look into it.

I have to disagree with the hating blogs thing though! We are both too close to the tree to see things as a typical internet nitwit sees them.
Which is MOST PEOPLE! :) Blog = BORING!

Hi!

But look at how many nitwits are in facebook, myspace and the likes. Those systems are very similar to blogs in terms of user interaction.

See how many people use wikipedia, which also have user interaction, sidebars etc.

Let's keep it at that, we have two different opinions on this "what people want" matter. I leave yours to you, but you shouldn't impose your opinion as the ultimate truth here, because it isn't ;)

Regards,
Garvin
