The file is serendipity_config_local.inc.php and is located in the root of your serendipity install.

When I want to see the contents of that file, I usually just ftp it off the server and onto my local drive.... there I can view it.

I have never tried to edit the file then ftp it back, so i do not know how s9y would interpret any changes to permissions, if they occured in the process.

I tend to focus on templates and such.... perhaps one of the more seasoned server experts can better input.

Have you tried just giving s9y the new password again?
