How do you add static info to the sidebar?

I'm a real PHP n00b, the last time I ever did anything "webby" was in plain html when javascript was NEW and hip

I'd like to add a couple of links to friends sites etc to the side bar but I have no idea where to add this stuff.. could someone give me some pointers.

You can easily add a "HTML Nugget" Sidebar plugin, and insert HTML Code there, like links to your friends.

If you don't like to do it that way, we do have some linklist plugins in our repository (http://www.s9y.org/29.html) which you could checkout.
