adding media

Post by edscholl »

Hello-

Quick question-
Is there a way to point the Media Library to folders in which I already have files contained, or do I have to go to "Add Media" and individually add files?

Thanks! Great software by the way!

You can just upload/FTP the files in any subfolder of your uploads directory and then click on "Rebuild Thumbnails" in the Administration Panel. This will import all files which are currently unknown to Serendipity.

it would be interesting to organize media files in Media Library in subfolders and maybe to point to additional media folders outside the upload dir :)

You can already organize media files in subfolders. Organizing directories outside that folder does not make much sense, IMHO. It would require too many permission setups and could create much hassle for reading. Instead make a symbolic link in your upload folder to the folders outside of it, if you want to include them.
