Hiding old entries

Post by jait »

Hi all,

I'm refocusing my site and want to make older entries that don't "fit" with the new idea to still be available but not directly shown on the main page.

I originally thought to nest entry categories and make one category tree to appear on the main page but haven't figured out if I can do that or if it's possible. Is this idea a reasonable path to try or might there be a better way to do it?

Thanks in advance for ideas/suggestions.

Hi!

The easiest solution: Install the "Extended oproperties of entries" event plugin and then edit the old entries and enable the checkbox "hide from frontpage"? Then you could move those entries into a seperate old category.

Another idea would be to install the plugin "Start Page category" (Or was is "Initial view category"? The plugin's called serendipity_event_startcat) where you can enter category IDs that are by default hidden frmo the frontpage.

Thanks, Garvin. That was the piece that I was missing. I installed the Start Page Category and things look good.

I'm looking for the mid-way of both of these.

The hide function of the extended plugin makes the article also hidden in category views etc.

I want the article to be placed as normal, but excluded in the frontpage view.

If you're in category view, entries that have the "do not show on frontpage" mark WILL show up in that view!
