SpamBlocker feature request

Post by kc5tja »

The spam blocker seems to filter on everything except the actual e-mail address that people commit their comments with. I've been getting spammed to hell and back again by folks posting from .*\.mail\.ru and would like to have a field within which I apply a regex to block posts from anyone (or anything) from the mail.ru domain.

(Fortunately, I moderate everything on my blog, so none of this ever becomes visible, but still, it's annoying to have to manually block 5 new bogus comments a day, every day, for the last week at least.)

Can someone either implement this feature OR show me where or how I can patch the existing sources to implement it myself? I am completely unfamiliar with S9y's codebase.

Thanks.

But that still does not filter content based on e-mail address. The content filter area is not of any use to me. I want to forbid all users of mail.ru domain. I could care less of the content.

Why not? It filters based on the user's email address!

Oh, I think I see what you're saying now. I only have word-filters for URLs, author's names, and comment body. You're saying that the newer SpamBlock plugin has a 4th field, that applies more generically to everything. Correct?

Ah, you didn't mention which s9y version you use. I was thinking you'D be using the recent stable version 1.2 - there this feature should exist.
