I read the previous post on embedding and instructions. But I ad trouble embedding it. This is what I have on my system:
The location of my serendipity installations is http://domainame.com/blog/
The application I am embedding it with has all the .php files in public_html then a templates/template_name directory.
I had created wrapper.php but that didnt' work for me.
I created the copy of another php file and now it invokes blog.tpl from my templates directory. blog.tpl has an iframe calling http://domainame.com/blog/
Is there a way to embed it without using iframe with the current structure?
iframe is okay except that it doesn't use the CSS and i see the ugly borders.

I bet the problem's with your application that you're using. Sadly you didn't give any examples nor a real url, so we can't help you.
