I installed Serendipity 0.8-beta5 by using WS_FTP to transfer directories from my Windows hard drive to my server. WS_FTP leaves a log file in every directory on both ends.
When I opened the Import Data page in the admin area, the page displayed the contents of the WS_FTP log file before displaying the normal contents of the import utility page.
I deleted all the WS_FTP log files from all the directories, and the Import Data page was then OK. No more rogue display of content.
I guess one solution would be to advise people to disable the Log in WS_FTP (in Options... General), but I wonder how the rogue display happened in the first place.
WS_FTP log data appears on Import Data page

Re: WS_FTP log data appears on Import Data page
This is a real pain in the back that WS_FTP does this stuff. They should be banned for this by all FTP servers. The importer fetches all files put into the import directory, that's the reason if this. It allows to write your own importers, and we can't really change this behaviour just because of one major flaw in WS_FTP.
As you may get out of my post, I once had serous problems with a client where someone used those WS_FTP-Logfiles and caused major damage.
