Apache.exe - Application Error

Hi,

I'm currently using the latest version of Serendipity - 0.8b5.
I'm running a Wamp server (Apache 1.3.33 + Php 5.03 + MySql 4.1)
on Win 2000 pro sp4 workstation. (This server is for self testing only).
When I try to enter the configuration section on the admin's panel
I get the following error :
Apache.exe - Application Error
--------------------------------------
The instruction at "0x006a2df8" referenced memory at "0x404425ff". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK.../ Click Cancel... etc.

This problem also happened during the installation- when I chose the
advanced option. (I chose the simple option instead and the installation finished without any problem).
Besides this problem, it also seems to me that the blog taking too much
system usage when running as my system slows down big time ! (-: ).

Any suggestions ?

It seems as if your webserver has corrupted Memory or the used Apache has a memory leak, or your system setup is faulty.

The error is not caused by Serendipity, but it shows up there; I am sure that other applications may also take down your server. You should check your hardware and system setup. Also try out the XAMPP distribution, this one is known to work with Serendipity.

Hi again,

I tried to check the problem on another system. The system
was Windows XP Pro based with an Apache 1.33 server and Php 5.04. (It
was showed on the installation as Windows NT 5.1, i586). I got the same
problem. But there was a difference. There wasn't a memory error message... the advanced installation page just didn't load until it's end
(even after a couple of refreshes). Then I uninstalled Php 5.04 and
installed Php 4.3.11 instead. The problem was fixed and everything
worked fine. It seems that there is a problem with php 5.
Maybe you can check it with a system that have the same software
as I'm running. (Windows Xp pro+apache 1.33+php 5.04+Mysql 4.1)

Hm, this looks like a PHP5 memory error then, you may want to bugreport that to the PHP people, as PHP5 is still known to have some memory leaks, surely on Windows machines as well...
