The fix described by YellowLed was actually part of bulletproof for all but the final few days prior to release.... and, as mentioned by YL, the float portion works for FF, but IE requires float: none. This will not be a problem as BP already has IE specific stylesheets.

Just checked it in various Win browsers. If you want to be nice to your Opera and Safari visitors, change the width for #footer in base.css to 100% instead of auto.
