Bulletproof - narrower header - how?

Hi, what is the way to make the header narrower, with smaller height? Is changing the header picture sufficient ? I use 'blue' colorset.

The blue colorset uses the stylesheet blue_style.css. In that file, you will find this:
The image, blue_header.jpg, is 24 pixels wide by 140 pixels tall and repeats on the x-axis as wide as the banner, which for blue is determined by the visitor's browser window size since the page container, #wrapper, has a declared width of 85%.
You could reduce the height from 140px to whatever you want - it will simply clip off the remaining portion of the background image.
I'm not entirely clear on why you would want it to be more narrow, so perhaps you could elaborate on that?
Code: Select all
#serendipity_banner {
margin: 0;
height: 140px;
background: #3D98C5 url('img/blue_header.jpg') repeat-x center left ;
border: 0px;
}You could reduce the height from 140px to whatever you want - it will simply clip off the remaining portion of the background image.

Do you maybe mean width? I.e., make the header, and only the header, less wide so it fits an image of, say, 800x100px? (Hint: It would also help to give us an URL of your blog ...)JWalker wrote:The header uses too much space on the screen, and seems somewhat empty. Hi,
No, , I mean height, not width. I did what Don Chambers suggested. Now it is ok. May be the word 'narrow' that I used makes some ambiguity here. Now the header is less tall than before - this is what I wanted. I'm sorry, but my blog is in the our company internal network and is not visible outside, so I can't provide an URL.
Thanks.
