exit.php links format

can someone tell me why our Serendipity formats external links with the weird exit.php url?

It seems that this format sometimes prevents other blogs from recognizing trackbacks when I link to them.

Also, when I link to someone from my blog, I want to make sure they get the google juice. Does this format prevent that?

Is there a setting to use the cleaner style by default?

this is for counting the use of exit links - if you do not want this, switch this off.

and btw, it should not disturb the trackback-recognizion as we figure it out in http://www.malerwerkst.at/archives/542- ... -SPAM.html / http://test.manske-net.de/blog2/ - if you do not speak german:

malerwerkst.at has the option turned on to check whether a trackback-sending blog has really a link to the trackbacked page.

http://test.manske-net.de/blog2/archive ... est-3.html is an entry with a link to malerwerkst.at but exit-coded - and the trackback is yet there.

what is about google and technorati? Sorry, i do not know.
