Hi!
This could be caused by an older version of the plugin "Extended properties for categories". Which version of it are you running?
This plugin can override the sorting algorithm that is used when viewing a single category, and together with the 'Start page category' plugin you seem to be setting a default category. So you might need to change/remove the custom sort ordering of the extended category sorting (manage your categories, click on the start page category to edit it, there you can alter the sorting for that category)

I was using Extended Properties 1.13.
I removed the plug-in and installed it again and it worked.
