My Blog is Finnish

Post by happyhobo »

Hi there,

when I opened my blog today its language (dates, common links) had been changed to Finnish. I had to go to .../serendipity_admin.php?serendipity[adminModule]=personal and change it back to what it was before. I know I didn't change it to Finnish by accident because I had not accessed the admin panel in a month or so, although I like to visit the blog's main page about twice a week to check for interesting Google referers (I'm using the Google referer plugin).

Now I guess I should have looked at the date and the time the serendipity_config_local.inc.php file was changed the last time, but I didn't think of it before I corrected the language setting.

Is this a known problem (I don't think so...)?
Is there some kind of log file for users accessing the admin panel and/or changing settings so I could get an idea of when and why the language was changed?
Am I supposed to be concerned?

Thanks

Hi!

When you went to your personal configuration, was the language set there set to "Finnish"?

What is the global s9y config option "Allow to use visitor's browser language" set to? It might be one of your browsers was accidantely set to finnish?

You can check your server's "access-log" to see which IPs accessed the serendipity_admin.php file, but other than that logging is only available through the "External authentication" event plugin, but this will then only log access in the future to the database.

Garvin

Hi,

thanks for your reply.

Yes, both language settings in "Personal Settings" and "Configuration" were set to "Finnish". When I try to change the language on the "Configuration" page, it says "Configuration written & saved" but the display language does not change and the next time I open the "Configuration" page the "Language" setting is set to its old value (just like I had not pressed the "Check & save" button at all). So, the language setting on the "Confguration" page has no effect, but when I change the language setting on the "Personal Settings" page it changes not only the display setting but both language settings (in Configuration and Personal Settings) as well.

On my blog installation, the setting's name is "Use visitor's browser language as default" (not trying to be nit-picky here but I thought I would mention it just in case this is the old name and the problem is upgrade related).
Anyway, it is set to "No".

It shows no other accesses than my own.

Hi!

The language in the 'Configuration' setting only affects the global visitor language. It is always overriden by the "Personal Configuration" language setting.

You might need to logout and relogin after chaning the language setting in "Personal Configuration".

Best regards,
Garvin
