Amazon Media Button Problem

Hi,

i used the media button only in one article so far.

In the plugin, article preview and Firefoxafter publishing the article i could see the image of the book chosen.

When i looked it up in IE7 this morning, only the text link was shown.
No pic of the book.
In Firefox there still was the pic to be seen.

Then i looked up and edited the article, deleting the "old" entry from the plugin, using the media amazon button again to put in the same book.
Again the picture was shown in the plugin.
But not in the preview of the article anymore.

After saving / publishing the article, the picture is gone in Firefox now too ...
How can this be?
Any fix?

Hmm, i tried to write a new article ... same book ... and ... the pic is back again ...

So it seems to be an issue with editing or formatting an article ...

Oh no, after formatting the text paragraphs before and after the amazonmedia paragraph, the pic is gone again in IE7 but still shown in Firefox ... So that's really startin gto nag now

So how to deal with amazon media / button in article(s) and editors?

Hi!

Screenshots and/or snippets of how the HTML looks like when it works and when it doesn't might help us to analyze the problems.

Are you using the WYSIWYG editor? This one might also interfer, sometimes it does not save images if they come first before any other content.

i solved the issue myself now.

But i have to admit that i'm pretty much disappointed by s9y's WYSIWYG-Editor.

It's not working like someone using a wordprocessor would assume it does. Especially when it comes to formatting paragrahs etc.

And the Non-WYSIWYG-editor is simply a pain in the ass for any regular blogger who is no programmer or xhtml /css-freak, but just want to post something ...

Although i like s9y very much from the setup to the admistration-interface - without a good (wordprocessor-like) editor it's not very usable for people who just want to type in something, like some paragrahs of text, and expect the outcome to look like what they typed in . isn't that what's WYSIWYG is standing for?

Actually, it's not "s9y's WYSIWYG editor". We only bundle htmlarea, an open WYSIWYG component.

ALL WYSIWYG components based on javascript are flawed. You won't find one that acts like native OpenOffice or Word, it's in the nature of javascript and cross-browser support that it will not always work perfectly.

Developers of wYSIWYG components have been working for 5-6 years on such a product, and as you can see until now no one has succeeded.

Maybe if you are more specific about what formatting exactly does not work, we could think for ways around that problem. But you are too general, so I can't help you in detail.

WYSIWYG works for me. If I highlight something and make it bold, it later appears as bold. That's what I expect from WYSIWYG.

Okidoki, please accept my apologies.

I agree i'm way to general.

S9y is a great tool, i like it, it's easy to install, easy to administer, easy to install and update plugins.

I was mislead by this, thinking the "rest" would be easy like this too .. lol

As a newbie with the system, i guess i just made a typical newbies mistake ...

Like expecting a WYSIWYG-Editor is working like a wordprocessor etc.

The forum is a good resource though to gain deeper insight about s9y, but searching gets me lots of irrelevant posts and it takes too much time to browse and read throught all the articles ..

I'd just prefer to have a sort of how-to and how-xxx-is-working-guides to be able to avoid those newbie-mistakes ...

I definitely agree with you! More documentation and How-To postings would hugely benefit newbies.

Sadly we are still a growing community (even though it's not sad, it's nice to know most people personally!) so we need help from the community to build these documentations.
