Start Page Plug-in not working?

I'm trying to set the front page to have one category.
There's a plug-in for that, but there must be some tweak I have to do before it will work? Is this usual for "plug-ins"?

I set one category for the front page. Buut, there's absolutely no change; entries from both the categories I've put entries into are showing on the frontpage.

I searched the Forum and found some-one wanting to set a Static Page as his front page and he had to change the Event plug-in list. I've got no idea where that is?

Can someone please tell me how to get this plug-in to work in very simple terms?

Or, is there any other way I can put the selected category on the front page or make sure that a particular category is not on the front page but somewhere that I can provide a link to, please?

I've put the graphic aside because it's not vital and the tweaking of various bits is taking longer than expected.

I've already PM'd Carl offering editing help, if needed, with the proposed "simple Guide" the first day I arrived here. But I'm probably more in need of it than most.

What is the URl of the page where the front-page category does not work?

Could you give us a list of event plugins you installed, and in which order you installed them? And which SErendipity version are you using, and which version of the plugin.
