Comments being denied

Post by schampagnie »

I was recently advised by a reader that comments on our blog are being denied. When I checked for myself I got the following message ... Permission denied
Notice: Permission denied in /home/u2/schampagnie/html/cblog/bundled-libs/PEAR.php on line 848
Permission denied

I cannot figure out how to correct this. Does anyone have any advice?

I saw a similar problem below, and the solution, so it's now working ...

Hi!

What did you change exactly? Maybe this can help others as well who read this thread.

I must say I spoke too soon! I had reviewed my plug-ins and found that I had added the spam protector multiple times. By the time I removed the extra ones I was already being bombarded with spam trackbacks which made me think it was working again. But either due to how I have configured the anti-spam plug-in, or something else, when readers enter a comment they continue to get the same message as below. :?

Hi!

How have you configured your spamblock plugin configuration exactly?

The PEAR-message can only happen if Akismet.com antispam is used, or some other DNSBL/RBL option is enabled...

Did your provider maybe enable firewalling of your server or enabled PHP's safemode or change open_basedir settings? That can have a similar effect on the permission-denied lines.

Best regards,
Garvin
