Hm, works here and at least for the person this feature was added for. It might be related to other event plugins you are using, like the startcat-plugin, if you'Re using that?

First, my apologies. On second reading my first post here doesn't seems all that clear. It doesn't kill categories, per se; it deletes the articles association with any particular category.
