Two problems: Media and WYSIWYG editor

I have two problems with my s9y:

1) I can't add media - when I click the "Add media"-link, the page reloads, but it is empty.

2) I see no WYSIWYG editor when I go to compose a new entry. There are just two textareas, "Content" and "Expanded content". I have TinyMCE installed, but maybe I have not configured it correctly?

Any idea what is wrong here?

Did you recently upgrade your serendipity? It might be that you were missing a file of the 'Default' template folder.

Which browser are you using? Do you have javascript enabled?

You must also enable the "Use WYSIWYG" in your personal preferences of serendipity to use WYSIWYG editing. When then nothing appears, you might not have tinyMCE installed according to the guideline in the plugin. You could try to remove the tinymce plugin to use the built-in WYSIWYG editor compoment`?

Yes I did upgrade fairly recently, but I have never really used the media library before, so I can't tell whether the upgrade is to blame.

What do you mean when you say I might be missing a file? How do I find out if I do, and what can I do to fix it?

Firefox (v2.0.0.1) and yes, javascript is enabled.

You must also enable the "Use WYSIWYG" in your personal preferences of serendipity to use WYSIWYG editing.

How do I do that? When I click on Personal preferences, all I get is one thing: "Old Password. If you change the password in the field above, you need to enter the current user password into this field."

This would indicate some sort of error, because there is only one field, i.e. there is no "field above" and no "this field" ...

I must admit I did not quite understand the instructions that came with the plugin. All I have done is entered the correct path to the plugin - am I supposed to do more?

You could try to remove the tinymce plugin to use the built-in WYSIWYG editor compoment`?

Well, the reason that I installed it in the first place was that the built-in wysiwyg did not work, so I don't think removing tinyMCE will do anything.

Really, you see nothing else? That sounds odd. Did you make sure that all files you uploaded via FTP were uploaded correctly? It sounds as if the include/tpl/config_personal.inc.php file is not complete.

Yes, you are supposed to upload TinyMCE! This is not part of the plugin itself.

So, my bottom line is that it seems something went wrong with the upload of the new files.

You were right! I have just tried re-upgrading (is that a word??), making sure that all files were uploaded correctly, and now I have many more settings under my Personal Preferences.

I have also installed TinyMCE (though I had to uninstall Spartacus first, otherwise it would not let me upload the plugin!), but is is correct that I cannot directly insert images from my media library via tinyMCE?

If so, I think I'll just stick with the standard editor.

Yes, I'm afraid tinyMCE is not hooked up with the s9y media library. I believe there is an external media library code for tinymce that can be installed on top of tinymce, but I don't know much about it
