Akismet Spam Protection

Post by cynks »

Unfortunatly I habe a bunch of problems

For some time now my blog ( http://blog.cynx.de ) is under a heavy spam attack (up to 200 Comments per hour), allthough captchas are enabled (they are enabeld one day after the entry). The comments are made randomly on all entries. The spam comments go all in the moderate mode but my database grows rapidly.

I pulled the emergency brake (no comments at all allowed) and wanted to update my system with the spam plug in featuring the Askiment protection. I've update s9y from 1.0 to 1.1 and now the Spam Protector has the version number 1.21 but I can see no Akismet Dialog.

After the update from 1.0 to 1.1 the feeds shown via the "Remote RSS/OPML-Blogroll Feed" Plugin have no links to their entries anymore.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks in advance

Hi!

Something went wrong on your update - the version of the spamblock plugin bundled with serendipity 1.1 is v.1.61! Please ensure you have uploaded all the right files; the problem with the RSS-feeds might be due to the same issue?

Best regards,
Garvin

Hi,

thank you for your quick answer.

I've downloaded the complete full release from s9y.org und uploaded it completly on my website. The updater from s9y showed no problems.

Another strange thing: I checked the source code of the spam-plugin on the server and there is an entry with Akismet in it, but it doesn't show up in the admin menu.

Best regards
Alex

Hi!

Did you check your FTP tool? Maybe it could not overwrite some files. Check the spamblock.php version of the full s9y release, it should differ in the one you have on your server...

Regards,
Garvin
