lost in translation - can't revert multi-lang back to mono

Post by uwe.boek »

... with other words:
how to delete a version of an article in a language I no longer want to keep?

btw: the (here german) standard-version is no longer accessible. german doesn't appear in the languages list (since it is the actual "standard"-language?). the german/standard-version is replaced by the english one ... (are some languages more equal than others here ; )

I begin to realize the "tangling-power" of that plugin ...

having released an article in a language other than the standard one makes s9y localize the view for that entry, once you clicked on its link in the entry`s footer. a pitty it doesn't know the translation of the custom sidebar-plugin-titles ... semi-localization ... I wish I could switch that hmm feature off ...

is there a way to just offer some translated instances of an entry without affecting the rest of the site?

kind regards
uwe

Hi!

Deleting a translated version of an entry is IMHO currently not part of the multilingual plugin. You can try to set an empty body of the entry, maybe this will remove the entry translation. But apart from that, you'd have to delete it frmo the serendipity_entryproperties DB table manually.

The "Standard" langauge is always the language you configured in your personal preferences.

That the "environment" of a page is also switched to the target language is IMHO a quite good thing, why would that be a problem? I believe you can use seperate variables for the interface language, I think this had been discussed...maybe you can search for forum postings of "eightgr" here, I think in one of his threads it was a topic.

Best regards,
Garvin
