I am using the shared host ,so that i can't install "pear" on my website!
Is there any other method can make category tree menu?

You can download the Pear TreeMenu into your serendipity 'bundled-libs' directory as well, yes.
Or you can put it into the subdirectory of the categorytreemenu plugin.

PEAR is bundled with s9y already.
Please explain where you put which files and what exactly happens?
Many users have installed that plugin locally without relying on PEAR itself, so I know it must work.

Hi!
Yes, you can do that via CSS. Have a look at the firefox 'firebug' extension, it can help you to find the appropriate selectors and then you can use 'background-image' on that element to style it via your style.css template file.
