i cannot write new entries, and on my weblog i have a string that obviously reveals some code from the site www.renatavonline.com.
the only chnges i made recently were the once that prevent trackback-spam, but i followed (to my knowledge) the instructions accurately.
i just realize that in explorer 7 the whole site is mangled....
in Firefox all looks ok but for the fact that i cannot post. i could scream and jump up and down... but of course i won't. just waiting patiently for help (yes, i am crying)
I've just added a comment to your blog and also viewed it in IE7, and both worked perfectly for me. The IE7 problem I see is the serendipity logo being blown out of proportion, but I think this is a template problem, and not related to your permissions problem.
On the subject of your permissions problem, I have had a similar problem in the past and it often happened for me when my host was doing maintenance on their mysql server, sometimes they would be backing up the server, other times it was because other users were putting too many requests to the server, but the problem always occurred when I was adding entries, and never affected the ability to add comments. I know this doesn't help you solve your problem but it might be useful for Garvin to know when he replies to this. Are you able to give a few more details,
1. Can you post the full text of the error message you received?
2. Can you edit existing entries?
3. If you try to write a new entry is it still giving that message?
4. Can you make other changes to your blog, for example can you change your template or edit comments inside the admin page?
5. Can you upload an image, and is it being recognised by your media manager afterwards
thank you.. i contacted tophost who are at times a bit under pressure and databases truly do not work at times.. but in fact i had blown one database out of its pre-assigned proportions and had to fuel up on that. thanks for the superfast answer!!!
