I have found a way to make Flickr work!

After trying several times, I have found a way to make Flickr work with S9Y. See my post and examples of photos posted from Flickr to my blog here and here

Before you proceed, the most important piece of information you need to know is that while Serendipity uses BloggerAPI (or the MoveableType extension to BloggerAPI), Flick'r DOES NOT work properly with that setting. (You will ended up with a Draft post devoid of a Title waiting for you to "publish" it officially -- need to login as admin before you can see that). That's not good.

Instead, you must choose the "MetaWeblogAPI Enabled Blog" setting (just like WordPress'ers would). The API Endpoint (or Webservice path) for Serendipity is http://path.to/serendipity/serendipity_xmlrpc.php. Put in your Flick'r ID/PW and you are good to go.

"This is a test post from , a fancy photo sharing thing."

Oh, when you "blog" your photo from Flickr, you will get a message that say it has fail to post and your blog software is "flakey". But if you check your blog, you will find the photoblog posted and well. So enjoy!

Thanks for letting us know! I must admit that our XML-RPC file is not really that well maintained, which is the reason why flickr tells the user about "flakey" insertion

We could really use some volunteer to look into the XML-RPC API and make Serendipity behave in every way.

Glad to be able to help. (and you helped me in my questions too.)

I am using S9Y (a very fine product - considering I tested Blogger, and WordPress, and switched from Blosxom) and want to see it to grow and do well. (I still like Blosxom, but less friendly because you must know HTML to make it look pretty. So many of my students will have problem.)

I search Google using FLickr and Serendipity and found a vague "plugin" that's been started, and no information on how to do this at all.

You may want to consider posting the Flickr/S9Y information in somewhere more prominent. http://www.s9y.org/50.html may be a good place to append the XMLRPC /Flickr info. Just a thought.

I can also verify that this method seems to work fine. I just posted an entry with a photo from my cell phone, and it was up as soon as the post was sent. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Ok, what am I doing wrong? It's not working for me. Can you show me another example of the API endpoint?

i created the 'Flickr' directory and uploaded the API to it. I recieved an email address from flickr allowing me to email pics to flickr and it automatically appear on my blog.

I still have the error message: "Loading the Flickr API module failed. Please insure that the module is installed." in the sidebar.

I was under the impression that with this plugin, pictures would appear down the sidebar.

Do i have to edit the API or should it work 'as is' because i dont know how to get ride of the error message.
