I'm sorry for such a noob q, but I can't find the solution anywhere and have searched for hours on the forum.
When I go to create a new directory it tells me cannot write to Base Directory please check permissions.
As far as I understand "Serendipity" is my base directory and I can't find anything anywhere else. I have permissions set to 755 and still get the error.
Where is the Manage Directories>Base Directory referring to and trying to write to? I'm really frustrated for something that should be so basic!
Thanks!

Re: Simple question: adding new directory
Hi!
Permissions 755 do not suffice, you need 777 for Apache/PHP to be able to write to it. "Manage Directories" creates subdirectories in your "uploads" folder, so this folder needs to be 777 as well.
Best regards,
Garvin
