Discussion forum

Would somebody please explain me, how I have to integrate the forum as s static page in the navigation bar at the front page? I installed the discussion forum plugin, but I can't find the permalink, like www.yoursite.com/index.php?page=guestbook.

Solution: The permalink of the forum plugin is www.yoursite.com/index.php?serendipity[subpage]=forum

You mustn't enter the general path, like I mentioned above.

The forum has to be called out of a subpage and not through a general permalink. You must't call it directly over the complete URL. Garvin already wrote a warning about that fact a few months before. When you call the forum directly, it can bail out your plugins, Garvin wrote. And so the solution is simple. Call it via a sub-permalink and you're done.

Happy blogging everyone. :o)

in the static page administration should be a point "other plugins" or so. There you should be able to activate the forum, I think.

you're right. but this link only offers the possibility to create new boards. you have to active the plugin first, before you will see this menu point at the admin panel.

I guess I'm going to remove and re-install. I couldn't find the permalink either until I came here and saw this. I got it going and showing on the frontpage, but I can't seem to get the buttons to show. Something to do with the path. So I'm going to reinstall this and see if it puts the proper paths in by default.

It's a nice system, but thorughly too complex. The docs run ya around in circles too. Glad this forum is here!
