Modifying Joshua-Nino Theme

Post by Xessex »

I've just started with my own serendipity weblog. The best theme i found to my liking is Joshua-Nino. Yesterday i have been making a different banner and changed the backgroundcolor to black. But i haven't changed more. I'd like some advice about the colors i would have to use in the rest of the interface.

So could any of u designers have a quick look at my weblog and give me an advice with having my own banner and black background?

I've got a second question too. How can i get a box with permanent links in the right toolbar? Think of links to IMDB.com etc... and sites about travelling.

Any help would be much appreciated :D

I've proven that I have very little color sense, so I'll leave that question to someone else.

However, the permanent list of links is simple. Just add an HTML Nugget sidebar plugin. You type the HTML you want, move it up or down the sidebar to the place you want, and you're done!

There's also a Link List plugin that does the same job, but automatically includes pages from the Static Pages plugin, and can be configured with an XML list.

Hi

an ideal colour palette for your blog could be taken from the photo you've used for your header.

The link below will extract a web palette from any photo. I've run your header throuh it and got the following.

dull
#443333
#777788
#ff8833
#888888
#bb6644

vibrant
#220000
#9999aa
#ffcc00
#bbcccc
#ff5500

If you need any more help just ask away.

I suggest using the Guestbook plugin (serendipity_event_guestbook), available on http://spartacus.s9y.org/ (Event Plugins) :)

By the way, I usually can't stand black backgrounds (seen too many of those goth kiddie blogs ), but yours actually looks great with the photo in the header :)

I've made the photo myself at a very dear place for me: Sossusvlei, Central Namib Desert. The absolute most gorgeous and impressive piece of nature i have seen. Far better than the Canadian Rockies or the Victoria Waterfalls.

Thanx for the info. I'm gonna check it out soon.

I've already worked on the colors btw. I'm gonna stick to this what i have now for a while i guess
