quick search dont work

Quick Search won't work with Russian. I've looked up MySQL tables encodings and it seems to be all right. My guess is that QS malfunctions because it uses full text search method. How can I disable it?

To disable the QuickSearch altogether, remove the sidebar plugin under 'Configure Plugins' from the Serendipity Admin page.

To disable full text search, I don't know. Somebody recently updated the plugin to search through comments, maybe he'll be able provide more details.
