Hi,
I'm searching for a meta tags plugin that has the following features:
- separate meta tags for the index-site (start site) of the blog
- perhaps meta tags for static sites
- separate meta tags for article sites
I have found a plugin that can set meta tags but the same for all sites. And an other plugin can set meta tags for the article site but not for the start site.
I hope you can help me. Thanks.

Sounds like we need to do some consolidation. Really, we should just have a single meta-tag plugin, I think.
However, the two plugins should work well together. You could use one to define the overall/frontpage meta-tags, and then the other to define the per-article meta-tags. Their order would define the order of the meta-tags, too.

This is kind of off topic from the plugin aspect, but do any of the popular search engines still look at meta tags? I know that google does show the meta description when you do a site search without any other parameters, "site:www.s9y.org" for example. The engines of today look at the pages content and could really care less about the meta tags, at least from everything I have seen and read.

I agree with chickens, most meta tags seem completely redundant. The description tag is used by Google and will be parsed by technorati and other services, but the rest are...
Exceptions to this are nanny sites/software that require certain tags as part of their child-friendly commitments, and gov/edu sites that are indexed by document storage sites such as museums, research foundations etc. So the upshot is that most bloggers don't need to worry about meta tags but they are still used, and when they are used they are extremely important so this plugin is a great idea and should be developed.
