Bug in extended text?

Post by HMTKSteve »

Is there an upper limit on the size of a blog entry?

I've had some entries that look fine when I preview them but once I save them a large portion of the text gets clipped.

Hi!

Yes, there is. A webbrowser limits the amount of text copied into a single textarea field to 65kb. :-(

Best regards,

I am having a similar issue at the moment. After I paste in text to the Extended Entry section, I proceed to save the entry and after a very long wait as it saves, there is a portion of the text removed. I have attempted to re-enter the post several times and the same thing occurs, though the amount of text not saved varies. The text is nowhere near 65kb - more like 7 or 8. It also very curious since I have posted chunks of text triple plus in size and had no difficulties. My blog was set up by a friend of mine so my understanding of the nuts and bolts is limited.
My blog is located at www.gorillamen.com
I believe my version is below.
Powered by Serendipity 0.8.4 and PHP 4.4.4

Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks
Mark

That's a pretty ancient version, with known security flaws. Get your friend to upgrade to the newest stable 1.0 version. You'll be much happier.

I have mentioned to him that an update is likely to be needed.
Was there problems with this version related to my issue?

Sorry; I know little beyond the fact that 0.8 is old.

Garvin may be able to give you more details, but he's really busy with 1.1 right now.

If you do upgrade, you can at least be assured that nobody else is having trouble with the newer versions, and that we can help you with very little hassles here on the forum.
