I use a local installation on my linux machine for this. Using the wonderful xampp, this is also possible under Windows. I don't know about Macs.

As far as I know/can see on spartacus, there's no plugin to do that. There is, however, a plugin which assigns different templates/themes to certain categories ... and using the various settings for the categories sidebar plugin, it should be possible to make a test category at least almost hidden ...

Hi!

You can install the "Template Selector" EVENT plugin (NOT the sidebar plugin). Then you can pass a ?serendipity[template]=XXX option to the URL to switch the theme, without affecting your users who don't know about this option without the sidebar plugin. :)
