can't log into 1.1 beta

Post by locojoe »

I first upgraded my 1.02 version which worked to the 1.1 beta. I believe the upgrade went ok. I could access my blog but could no longer log in. I used phpmyadmin to change, delete and recreate my log in account but still no luck So I then deleted all Serendipity files from my server and deleted the database it used. I created a new database and installed 1.1 fresh and still cannot log in. I'm sure I must be missing something but can't figure out what.
Anyone?
Thanks.

Hi!

What happens when you want to login? Are you sure you use the right credentials? The password needs to be a MD5 hash in the serendpity_authors table!

And your server needs to support cookies / sessions?!

Best regards,
Garvin

When I try to log in I get "You appear to have entered an invalid username or password".

Ok I think I just figured it out. I have 2 domain names pointing to this hosting account. If I change the address of the admin log in screen to include the other domain name instead of what I normally use it worked. Not for sure why. When I had installed the older version it had woked under the one domain I have been trying to use.
Hope that made sense.

Thanks for your response.

Am not able to log in again. As I said before I have two domain names going to the same hosting account. After I couldn't log in last time I found a way to get it to work by entering the other domain name in the address of the page. That worked for a while but now that one won't let me log in either. Using either domain name in the address of my S9y log in page I'm unable to log in.
I again deleted S9y and the database. Created a new database, did a fresh install of S9Y which goes ok but when it comes time to log in as admin it says "invalid username or password". I've checked it out in mysqladmin and all looks ok. I even changed password, created a different admin account in mysqladmin and still no luck.

I am running another instance of S9y under another hosting package (same company) and it works ok. It too also has multiple domains pointing to the one hosting account.

Maybe the 2 domains has nothing to do with it. I'm at a loss.

I'm using v 1.1 beta5 on both.

Help please. Thanks.

Hi!

On the host where it doesn'T work, have you maybe installed an .htaccess password protection?

Best regards,
Garvin

Yes a directory that S9Y is under is password protected. I did temporarily remove the htaccess files but still couldn't log in.

Last night I went and did a clean install of v1.0. and was able to log in to admin. I went and upgraded to 1.1 beta5 and my problem is back.

My password protection was enabled during the upgrade though.
