Blog hangs when posting comments

Post by bwthor »

Hey all,

I am new to this board, and new to serendipity. I am using the latest stable version, and think I have everything configured correctly. Every thing seem to be working, I am able to log in and post new blog entries. When I try and post a comment or trackback, it just hangs after I submit it. I can no longer access my blog at all. My web server still works, and other apps I have using php and mysql work, I just can't get to my blog until I restart apache.

Anyone have any recommendations on what to look for or what logs to check. I am running on FreeBSD.

Thanks.

Hi!

Could you tell us your URL and which serendipity version exactly you'Re using (1.0.1?)

Also please tell us which event plugins you have installed.

Best regards,

The URL is http://bwthor.com/blog and the version I am using is 1.0.1

I installed it on a test server I use at work that is pretty similar to this one and it works fine.

Hi!

Could you tell us the event plugins you have installed on your blog, please? I suppose it might be related to a specific Anti-Spam plugin, and if your server is firewalled, it can result in timeouts...

Best regards,
Garvin

Sorry for not including the event plugins, even though you asked. I haven't changed anything from the default installation. I see that there is a Spam Protector plugin listed. I removed that, but still have problems. After I restart the Apache server, I can click on the comments and see the comment I tried to leave.

The other event plugins that are installed are as follows: Markup: Serendipity, Markup: Emoticate, Markup: NL2BR, and Browser Compatibilty.

Hi!

Do you maybe have access to your webesrver's and PHP error logfiles? Maybe there are some errors that happen? It might be session related, cause the blocking behaviour you describe can happen when one process opens the s9y session file, but it doesn't close it...

Best regards,
Garvin
