Or you can install the spartacus plugin and then install the "Link List" plugin.

The sidebar HTML nugget requires a little bit of HTML.
Under the title for the plugin, you can enter anything you want (for example, "Menu").
Here's how to make a list using HTML:
<a href="http://yoursite.com/>Site</a>
<a href="http://yoursite.com/about">About</a>
<a href="http://yoursite.com/gallery">Photos</a>
Just replace URL with your own info.
I've never used the Link List plugin, but it should be something similar where you just enter the URL (or in other words, the link).

Link list is similar, but it also offers a way to add links to a database for (slightly) easier management.
If you install it and then change "Enter XML directly" to "No" you will get a menu option (on the left hand menu) called Manage Links.
From there you just add a link and can order them, categorize them and do all sorts of things. Then it will generate the output automatically (so you don't need to know any HTML).
