Plugin Request: Now Reading

Post by azel »

I am wondering if anyone would tackle this plugin for Wordpress.

What is it? (from the author's site)

"Now Reading is an expansive WordPress plugin that allows you to maintain a virtual library of books. Display which are the ones you’ve read, which you’re reading, and which you plan to read; add metadata to describe them; write reviews detailing what you thought of them. Now Reading fetches its data from any Amazon domain, so all you need is an ISBN or book title and you’re good to go."

Some other points:

-Now Reading uses a database to manage books added.

-You can search by ISBN or title/author.

-You can change the status of the book: Read, Yet to Read, Finished. You can review the book and add tags.

-The sidebar widget shows what books you're reading/plan to read/finished with a link to your full library.

-The Library has its own built in search function.

-It supports permalinks, which can be used to list books by author.

This plugin is really cool. I tried out Wordpress for a month (and if you've read my blog, you'll know I've stated Now Reading is one of the few things Wordpress is good for). I would reaaallly love to have it for s9y!

Anyone interested in giving it a look? Here's the author's site: http://robm.me.uk/projects/plugins/word ... w-reading/

Sounds awesome. And we already have a "currently listening to" plugin that it could be integrated with, to keep event hook overhead down.

I can't do it, though. Already too much on my plate. But I sure hope someone else tackles it.

It looks like it might kind of tricky with the database table, but I hope someone will think it's worth looking into.
