Odd.

Ok, I'm about to just do the upgrade and hope for the best. As far as you know I shouldn't have a problem with losing my entries? Correct?

I stress the, shouldn't.

Depends on what kind of backup you have now. 'Just' the entries dumped from the admin backend or a database backup? I know nothing about this strange database they're using, but a MySQL dump could be controlled by simply viewing it with an editor and checking if everything's in there, maybe that's possible with your backup, too?
